Is there a maximum size or number of files in a compressed ZIP file?

Essentially, no.  The ZIP files created by Safe Data Backup utilize the ZIP standard 64 bit extensions, so the number of files and file size are virtually unlimited.  The only practical limit to these sizes is from your computer's available system resources.
