E-Mail Options

This dialog is available by selecting the File/Options.../E-Mail menu command.

If you are not using a MAPI e-mail client (such as a web based e-mail account), use the: Only Copy E-Mail Addresses to Clipboard When Sending E-Mail option.  When this option is on, whenever you choose any e-mail sending command, the e-mail address(es) are copied to the clipboard, so you can paste them into the "To:" field in your web based e-mail.  The other 2 options here control how the addresses are formatted on the clipboard, and whether or not a popup message box is displayed showing you what just got copied onto the clipboard.  The Include Display Name in Address option will cause the e-mail addresses to be formatted as:

"John Doe (Home)" <johndoe@domain.com>

When this option is off, the e-mail address will just be the address: johndoe@domain.com.  Multiple e-mail addresses are separated by a comma.

Simple MAPI is the protocol used by Handy to send e-mail.  Sending e-mails from Handy requires a 32 bit, Simple MAPI compliant e-mail client, such as Outlook, Thunderbird, or The Bat! be installed and configured.  (The sending method used when double clicking on an email address in the Details Window uses the mailto: protocol with your Windows shell.  All other methods of sending e-mail utilize the Simple MAPI interface of any default e-mail client)

To choose which e-mail client is used, go to "Default Apps" in your Window's settings (Windows Settings / Apps / Default Apps) to select a default Email app.  You may also have to enable Simple MAPI support in your e-mail client.

Troubleshooting: If you're having trouble getting your email client to work, make sure you have a 32 bit version of your email client installed.  Also, you can use "regedit" to verify MAPI is enabled by browsing here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem

and verify you have a string value named MAPI set to a value of 1.  If necessary, add it using regedit.

Some older e-mail clients have different implementations of MAPI, so if you are using either of these, check the Omit SMTP Prefix option.  If your MAPI e-mail client requires a profile to log on, enter the username and password here.  Otherwise, leave these fields empty.  Usually these fields are left blank.
